I often get asked “Janelle, How are you always so happy?” Let’s be real, I’m not ALWAYS happy but, I am usually happy because I choose happiness. Yes, “happy” is an emotion and we get to decide what emotions we choose to feel.
Here are my top tips for finding your happiness state of being: First and foremost, gratitude. You simply cannot be in a state of gratitude AND a negative emotional state at the same time. If you’re feeling angry, frustrated or sad – process those feelings and then pause for a mindset shift. Spend a few minutes to think of what you’re grateful for while taking some good deep breathes. Secondly, surround yourself with positive, supportive people. My friends are quick to tell me to change my mind on a bad attitude! I was having a challenging morning the other day and I texted my close friend her response “Omg friend. Reset your day RIGHT NOW”. She was stern and it was exactly what I needed 🖤 Second: Comedy. Find a photo or a video or think of a funny thought that will bring you laughter! It’s vital to laugh throughout the day! Life is FUN. Life is EXCITING. Life is JOYFUL!!
